A new development arises in the Middle East conflict as American intelligence indicates the likelihood of an inevitable "massive attack" from Iran against Israel. An anonymous source familiar with American intelligence affairs confirmed to the agency that not the probability but rather, the timing of the attack stands as the main question.
This Thursday, April 11, a general from the American Middle East command is expected to arrive in Israel to discuss the situation. US General Erik Kurilla is due to meet the Israeli Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant along with officers from Tsahal, according to the same sources.
In a significant event on April 1st, Israel targeted Iran’s Damas consulate in Syria that led to 16 deaths, including seven members of the Revolutionary Guards. Among the deceased was also Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a prominent Iranian al-Qods Force general. The assault prompted severe response from Iran with the supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, stating that the "zionist regime will be punished."
US President Joe Biden emphasised his unyielding support for Israel amid the brewing conflict. He confirmed Iran’s threat of a considerable attack against Israel during a joint press conference with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida at the White House. He reiterated his unwavering commitment to Israel’s security against Iranian threats and stated, "We will do everything we can to protect Israel’s security".
Israel has bolstered its defence systems and prepared for various scenarios in anticipation of a potential assault. Israel’s foreign minister advised that "if Iran carries out an attack from its territory, Israel will respond and attack Iran." In response to the escalating situation, German airline Lufthansa announced a suspension of its flights to Tehran on Thursday.
